Nigeria's headline inflation rate fell to 14.63% in September 2026, from 15.39% in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. It is the lowest reading since October 2020, and well below the 20.98% recorded a year earlier.
Food inflation eased to 19.59% year on year, and food prices fell month on month. Core inflation, which strips out food and energy, slowed to 12.95%.
What it means for renters and owners
Slower inflation helps household budgets and gives companies more room to plan. For employers housing staff, steadier prices make longer corporate leases easier to budget for. For apartment owners, it means running costs such as cleaning, supplies and repairs should rise more gently.
